  • May. 23rd, 2009 at 3:18 PM

Hey LJ, spent most of the week doing AF for blm however, theres a catch... I had to finish getting the completely unnecessary pieces of my SMN af to do so! And by unnecesary pieces, I mean of course; the tanking hands.

..... I'm Riker, and welcome to my horror ..........

GOTW (Gimp of The Week)
Pira the JP Sch found during a simurgh fight.
Brace yourself... its bad.

Tranquility ring, Hale ring, Red cape +1,  morion/moldy for healing set. I dont even remember what that belt was but it can't be good. Body augments was fast cast and something else I think, that was probably fine.

Our premier GOTW (a rare, second gimp for the week),
Hailing from Sand'oria, Rikerrrrrr!

pretty fuckin sad eh?

Finally, a food for thought picture. Tell me this next SS doesn't speak for itself. Examine the kneck of Yourshadow's taru.

Notice how it goes like, no kneck to that little rounded off kinda chin? Idk maybe i'm crazy but I see it.

Sheep in Antlion's Clothing SMN Duo

  • May. 15th, 2009 at 4:35 PM

Duo'd Sheep in Antlion's Clothing with Ifirit on SMN. It was pretty fun, its the first recorded account of a smn duo, or any account of a smn duo to MY Knowledge (not that its a big deal; just saying...)
The fight went pretty well the first time, at least. We won both however I personally had a lot of whiffs and crappy predetor claws the second round, even though my highest damage was higher then Ifirits in both rounds he was definetly more consistent and in fact, THE main force behind our second win. Fortunately no good drops from either run...

As with most smn events, it's relatively straight forward and easy to do. Here's the jist of it.
  1. Enter, set a Buff order. Ifirit used Earthen Ward first while I used protectra & etc.
  2. I Summoned Garuda, (as did he) and I aggroe'd first. (Note* on some occasions Sandpit didn't break SS. As a test I then aggro'd with that weakened stoneskin and was left with around 3-400 HP so it is possible to get away with wasting MP on Earthen ward only once per fight unless you get a full break or critical hit.)
  3. Both Summoners engage Tuchulcha. - A good strat is to BP off the start, then right before 75% hp retreat, and time a 2nd wave of BP's. Doing this each time will allow you to kill him without him running away as often.
  4. Ifirit's SS was still fresh from earthen ward so he was next aggro.
  5. Repeal previous steps but switch summoners.
Most BP's averaged 800 or so damage. Topping out at 1000+ with a few whiffs. Between elemental Siphon MP wasn't really a problem. We rested on our first run for about a minute then astral flowed the last 25% because we lost track of time. We won in 10 minutes and knew that next run we wouldn't need to astral flow, which we didn't.

Damage SS>

2nd Run.  (I was stressed because I whiffed like 3 blood pacts and my girlfriend called me... and my phone doesn't have any service if im comfortable so I had to deal with saying "hello hello hello" and her saying "hello hello hello baby why aren't u payig attention to me im breaking up with you"... But what comes first?? Thats right... You guessed it... Gelatin.

I believe it was FFXI rog who did the math and said a smn solo should be possible with sch sub and capped+ smn skill based on the damage output I shared with him/her, however after so many whiffs I'm inclined to say its highly dependent on luck and accuracy.

P.S. Its fun to use astral flow blood pacts for no reason lol

Hold your breath, we're goin on an adventure.!

As I mentioned before I've been leveling blu (26) and loving it. All solo/duo Trio. So I of course went for some Bounding boots and to my surprise found LL up unclaimed! No drop though of course, I give up.

Well anyway, at least I got a big welcome back from my wife, Briz.
Good to see someone still loves me in this cruel world.

So besides leveling my blu, of which I'm about to post a platicsurgeoned, outdated screenshot with a GM, I managed to snag these.

They're a nice piece really, not amazing but if I wasn't too lazy to macro them in to cast some spells with I would use them over my republic Subligar.
_____

So anyway, one of my first orders of business upon returning, was getting Dantaro his Dune Boots, and... So I give you... Dantaro's Dune boots... Grats bro.

As this update draws to an end, I give you the GimpO'daWeek, standing 7 foot 0", hailing from Encores..... I give you the no name elvaan gimppp booooo

Kupu Fried Cheers!~ KFC

http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics/ff11us/detail/4483/detail.html

Sit back, friend, and let me tell you the tale, kupo.
'Tis a tale of countless generations past—of joy, of sadness, and one magnificent moogle monarch's unrealized dream.

Our story begins in the ancient kingdom of Kupalika, a peaceful and prosperous nation where ten thousand score of moogles and some twice as many sheep lived together in moogle magic-enhanced harmony.

This magnificent moogle monarchy reached the peak of its prosperity during the reign of its seventh ruler, King Kupofried the Great, a peerless paragon of a potentate whose wisdom, benevolence, and mastery of magic have yet to see their equal. Verily, it was the selfsame King Kupofried who developed the teleportation techniques of which you adventurers are so fond, kupo.
And so the golden age of our ancestors' kingdom endured...

Yet time and tide wait for no moogle—not even the mighty King Kupofried.
Having grown old and gray, and knowing his time was near, the sagacious sovereign set about his life's work—eleven poems of happiness and joy, engraved on tablets of stone, that could be entrusted to future generations to ensure everlasting peace and prosperity for his children, his grandchildren, and all of mooglekind.

Sadly, it would soon become evident that the kindly king's tranquil temperament was not shared by his progeny, kupo. No sooner had the petty princes and princesses caught word of the tablets' existence than they embroiled themselves in a bitter brouhaha over which of them would inherit the freshly hewn heirlooms.

King Kupofried was devastated, dejected, and demoralized, kupo. How could his verses, born of such heartfelt joy, become the source of such strife among his scions? In a fit of frustration, he commanded his minion bats to scatter the stone tablets to the far corners of the world, that they might never be seen by moogle eyes again.
The next day, he vanished from his throne and kingdom, never to return.

Bereft of its wise monarch, Kupalika soon spiraled into decay—and eventually, downfall. The myriad moogles who once lived together as one people fractured into numerous tribes, some preferring to live alongside Altana's children, with others opting to preserve their nomadic customs.
One of these tribes, smallest in number yet stoutest in spirit, is that of the "explorer moogles," kupo. Tracing their lineage back to King Kupofried himself, these brave souls scour the far ends of Vana'diel in search of the long-lost tablets for generation after generation, that they might someday realize their legendary forefather's abandoned dream.

But relics of legend are not so easily found, and the explorers' staunchest efforts seemed doomed to end in vain, kupo.
That is, until just the other day, when a particularly intrepid explorer caught word of a tablet sighting.

Is this report authentic? If so, where are the tablets to be found?
And why have they only now surfaced, after so many years?
Most importantly, can any profit be had from this, so as to bring the MHMU out of the red at long last, kupo!?

The questions are endless, and there's only one way to answer them.
You—yes, you, my adventuring friend!—must lend your strength and substantial sleuthing skills to the explorer moogles' investigation.

Who knows? With your help, the mystical powers of our long-lost treasure just might bring peace and prosperity to the land of Vana'diel at its hour of greatest need.
So what are you waiting for? Go forth, and may the spirit of King Kupofried watch over you!

Quest Overview

You heard the good moogle—only you can help recover the legendary treasure of King Kupofried!
Assist the explorer moogles in tracking down the eleven lost tablets, then bask in the benefits as their mysterious "Super Kupowers" fill the realm with happiness and joy!
Additional rewards also await the astute adventurers who unearth the precious relics.

Event Schedule

The Mog Tablet Quest will commence on Tuesday, May 12 at 1:00 a.m. (PDT) and continue indefinitely.
Super Kupowers will go into effect when all eleven tablets have been found, their magnificent moogle magic affecting nearly all (*see note below) known world areas. These beatific boons will endure for one week before the quest draws to a temporary close.
After a set period of time, the tablets will once more be scattered to the winds, and the quest will begin anew!
Players may check the current status of the Mog Tablet quest at any time by speaking with the Explorer Moogle stationed in Ru'Lude Gardens (H-9).

Tracking Down the Elusive Tablets

What's that? You want some advice before you go off gallivanting around the world? Very well, kupo.
Word has it that the eleven tablets are concealed in the areas below, with no more than one tablet in any single location.
The tablets will reveal themselves readily to those who venture close enough, but be forewarned—mounted adventurers run the risk of overlooking the concealed treasures...

West Ronfaure / East Ronfaure / La Theine Plateau / Valkurm Dunes / Jugner Forest
Batallia Downs / North Gustaberg / South Gustaberg / Konschtat Highlands / Passhow Marshlands / Rolanberry Fields / Beaucedine Glacier / Xarcabard / Cape Teriggan / Eastern Altepa Desert / West Sarutabaruta / East Sarutabaruta / Tahrongi Canyon / Buburimu Peninsula / Meriphataud Mountains / Sauromugue Champaign / The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah / Ro'Maeve / Yuhtunga Jungle / Yhoator Jungle / Western Altepa Desert / Qufim Island / Behemoth's Dominion / Valley of Sorrows

- Successful Discoveries
When a tablet is successfully unearthed, a message will be displayed to all adventurers in the aforementioned areas informing them of the discovery. The player who uncovered the tablet can proceed to the Explorer Moogle in Ru'Lude Gardens (H-9) to collect a well-deserved reward!

- About "Super Kupowers"
The mystical Super Kupowers of King Kupofried will go into effect once all eleven mog tablets have been recovered, providing an assortment of benefits for all adventurers within the affected areas. Three powers from the list below will be selected at random, and will remain active for one week (Earth time) before the quest starts anew.
*During the Adventurer Appreciation Campaign, all eleven bonuses will go into effect at once (see below for details).

"Thrifty Transit": Outpost teleport sites will operate free of charge!
"Martial Master": As an added Signet effect, battle skills will increase more rapidly!
"Blood of the Vampyr": Signets will be boosted with the abilities of Regeneration and Refresh!
"Treasure Hound": Signet will grant you the Gilfinder and Treasure Hunter abilities!
"Artisan's Advantage": The chances of losing ingredients due to failed synthesis will be significantly lowered!
"Mystery Boxes: San d'Oria": Treasure Caskets will appear more frequently around San d'Oria!
"Mystery Boxes: Bastok": Treasure Caskets will appear more frequently around Bastok!
"Mystery Boxes: Windurst": Treasure Caskets will appear more frequently around Windurst!
"Mystery Boxes: Frontier Lands": Treasure Caskets will appear more frequently in the north and other distant lands!
"Swift Shoes": Adventurers who are fully rested and healed will temporarily be able to run with great speed!
"Ease of Exploration": A teleport service connecting the towns of Mhaura and Selbina to the three nations will appear!

*Effects will be limited to areas from the original FINAL FANTASY XI and the Rise of the Zilart and Chains of Promathia expansions, with certain areas excluded.
*Upon entering an affected area, a message indicating the active Super Kupower(s) will be displayed in the chat window.

- Special Rewards
A twofold treat awaits the astute adventurers who discover the tablets! Players will receive Kupofried's Ring—a precious relic left behind by the legendary king himself that is said to possess prodigious powers—as well as an additional reward corresponding to the particular tablet they reclaimed.

A Special 7th Vana'versary Bonus!

Under normal circumstances, recovering the complete set of Mog Tablets will trigger three randomly selected Super Kupowers.
However, should the set be restored during "Adventurer Appreciation Week"—Tuesday, May 12 at 1:00 a.m. (PDT) to Monday, May 25 at the same hour—all eleven powers will be released simultaneously!

Just think of it as one small expression of gratitude to all of you who have helped to make Vana'diel the rousing realm of adventure that it is!

Just when u thought dragon ball z was dead its back!

Yea, I went there and made a topic equivalent to a 13 year old girls myspace name/status. Anyway I lost claim on LL last night after a 3 hour camp, so I dont have bounding boots, Don't have an EMP pin... and my BLU is 19 almost 20.

I met a WHM Taru today that reminded me of my noob days, we duo'd for a while until briz came through (whom I introduced as my wife lolbriz<3). It was a lot of fun end of story. Blue Mage rocks. Shout out to Jonas (who will never see this) for helping us complete our training page after a few epic deaths...

I got some catching up to do on spells but I got all the good ones I need; gear wise, I'm doing ok as well. Got them HQ lv 14 str rings, one of which I alternate with an astral ring, no throwing, no back/waist cause there's nothing good at this level except for maybe a warriors belt which I don't need because I'm pimp and can take a hit without VIT.

__________

So briz and I are going to duo to 75. If your a blu around 20ish and want in on Alexander /t me in game or message me or something idk. All I know is that I'm a beastly blu, which will come to an end when im too lazy to camp good gear or make good macros but whatever, for now I'm the fuckin best there is.      lol. . . (No I'm not a paranoid Schitzophrenic)

BTW I have no idea how I'm gonna study for this test tomorrow I have no notes...

I personally LOVE halo wars, so I voted with the first option there; also its gotten a lot of mixed reviews so I'm wondering what my (few as it may be) readers think of it if applicable. As for the page theme I'm kind of tired of it, I tend to grow tired of things which were once visually pleasing quickly, however at the same time I push myself to live with it because in the end I dont really care and I do in fact feel like it looks good, or makes sense? I'm really not sure on this one, help me out please.

Thanks (^_^)/

Hey all its February 24th, and I havn't updated in almost a month now because I've been busy whoring myself out to the halo wars demo which I do in fact, love dearly. I've also been moseying about with my new LS Subvert, which is basically 99% of the good Finale players + some random new people. As such I feel very much at home in it although I do have flashbacks to great Finale moments and not to mention, Finale >>>>>> Subvert in the name category haha...
(New subvert pearl, first minutes of its life)

And Finally I just wanted to let you all know, that yes its true.

I, AM BATMAN.

My evasion is /le pwn. The movie will be released in March, don't miss!miss! it.

1/30/09 Ungur Solo 1/2

  • Jan. 31st, 2009 at 2:46 AM

I went went back for revenge around 10am est after wiping at 80% around 12AM the same day as you can see in my earlier post. Got the win and Boomerang for my buddy Thertee.

Killed 1 Typhoon Wyvern with Thertee to pop Ungur. After we killed the PH Thertee warped to go switch off his rdm/nin (which was geared only for melee) and onto BLM to kill PH's faster. He understood the boomerang was his as long as he didn't interupt the solo by touching either Ungur or myself; which held true through the entirety of the fight. I didn't time the fight, I only know I finished around 12:35pm EST and started around 11 something, so take that as you will.

Congratulations to Thertee on his new Ungur Boomerang ^^

I'd also like to take this opportunity to plug my friend, my boy, my nigga, my biffles~  berzerkalex.livejournal.com/.
We're on vent at the moment, his voice is so sexy its distracting me from updating entirely. He is a 75 WAR DRK NIN RDM and SAM. Were pretty much done upgrading his Relic GAXE so he and I will have some pretty exciting posts upcoming, be sure to check both and feel free to add either of us as friends if this is your first time reading. We also duo NM's and ENM's together so excpect some of that too from multiple perspectives as well as the fact that he has FRAPS and will be posting our videos ^^.

Thanks for the read check back in a little while for screenshots and a detailed explanation of my solo.

Ungur solo attempt 1

  • Jan. 30th, 2009 at 12:54 AM

Quick mini post before bed via LJapp on my iPhone whilst I take care of ore bedtime bathroom things.

ungur 0/1. Wiped at 80% because of link. If not for the link I think or I am pretty confident I would have had it.

Granted the first 10% wasn't flawless, I think it would have been suficent.

Things to do for next try.
• Pull to aggro free bund area (hopefully I won't have another huge audience to block my path or spam invites/tells/other distractions. Though I do not blame them fir the wipe since I wasn't above asking them to kill my link LOL)
• conserve mp better and remember I'm an elf not a taru or hume despite what you'll see in the ss I post later today.
• get more haste gear (gonna try to hq maybe. Havnt decided....)

On another note long overdue drk sub finished after a couple of weeks of xp zerging. Well Its zerging to me.... I did kind of enjoy drk though... Sigh back to smn now.

Thanks for reading I'll update this soon with a few pics

Voluptuous Vivian RDM Solo 1/1

  • Jan. 25th, 2009 at 10:46 AM

just solo'd VV, details coming later

_____________________Edit pics_____________________

Only have  2 SS of the fight, friends group wiped so i grabbed, felt bad and accepted invite to their group since they did me the favor of getting it down to 50ish % I suppose they deserved to lot if it dropped anyway, but i put them to work have no fear they were getting no free ride. I had the 2 bst charm the 2 spider pops so i could fight it in its room, its the same fight as any other just a much smaller chance of linkage, and you can run around more if u want but draw in prevents the use of that too extensively...

My friend kept inviting people to come for some reason, so I ended up with a mass of spectators even though I was yellin at him to make people leave lol.. because you know they'd feel cool when they would first arrive and run in breaking my bind until they got a thorough smack... Big mistake letting someone else in the party let alone hold party lead but I trusted  my friend and his group =\ ... So the sucky part is I dont have a SS of the "Riker defeats Voluptuous Vivian." b/c A. I was too lazy to scroll and B. some little taru rdm who was in the origional group thought that when I was saying "get away" to the ninja when VV was at 1% that it was a frantic cry for help and took my killshot.... so QQ to that ....

I did have to chainspell at around 10% for ichi spam, nukes did 4-5 % i'll post gear SS later I suppose...

Strategy: Basically bind, step away let DoT's do work... I straight tanked it for a while and primarily used bind just to recast SS. Having the spiders charmed was a slight advantage. I say slight because yes it was nice to have but in my playing around with VV if timed right it would bepossible to stay out of aggro range of those spiders and keep it bound away from me if I were to move back in range of it before Bind broke so it never moved, which I did while straight tanking so yeah. Voluptuous Vivian, lots of fun, no drops.

and having a crowd has its advantages:

The "I'm fucking pissed was the 1% killshot, and I wouldn't have really cared but my ThunderIII was seriously, at 55% with fast cast it was about to cast... and then.. yea... QQ
___________________________________________________________________

Also on this day I got full drops on a beaduex [s] NM, terror shield, matching sword, letter box... Congrats to Rhife on shield, SS to come later, updating slow lately.

Check back soon for full post~

1/22/09 Bannings. WTFSE?

  • Jan. 22nd, 2009 at 3:42 PM

Today as you all know, SE banned people who duped SW, salvage, and Nyzul drops by disbanding alliance before the kill and getting a triplicated treasure pool. Let me just say right now, SE fucked up. Its not our fault they had an exploitable design. Sure exploiting a glitch is by definition cheating; however how are we to know this is a glitch? Sure SE has always loved to fuck us over with shitty drop rates in dynamis, limbus, etc. Maybe this was their way to finally pay us back? In a day in age (of final fantasy) where there's so many latent effects and hidden ways.
In Salvage like Dynamis and Limbus everyone in the zone can attack said mobs, how can we be sure that in this day of latent effects that killing mobs in SEPERATE PARTIES and NOT ALLIANCES is a FF crime? Are you kidding me SE? We do it in Dynamis. Should we be penalized for that? As far as I'm concerned this is the way salvage is supposed to be done! Common now you wont even tell us how to kill AV, and when we figure out a way you fucking patch it? What are you doing?! Especially after seeing this, what makes you think we'd not want to "exploit" as you say this so called "glitch" or as I like to call it, fucked up retardation on your part. You really get paid for this SE? This harsh action came with no warning, and is totally uncalled for.
     The Odin Factor.
When fighting odin the only way to avoid/survive one of his moves is to /kneel. Thats so much more assenine then simply not being in an alliance and killing in parties. WHY would we think that theres seriously a major problem with killing not in an alliance? Especially when the glitch was around for upwards of a year or so?

Maybe SW dupers deserved a ban stick because they would be more likely to be involved in RMT b/c SW drops are the best way to make gil, but as far as people just trying to benefit themselves in a way I see as innocent is completely inappropriate. Are we viewed as slaves? There's no mutual respect between SE and its players, FFXI is BS. If my friends don't get unbanned my $26 a month on 2 characters and mules will be going elsewhere likely.
Lets not forget, You will not tell us how to do anything in this game. Call a GM and ask for advice on something and you get "i know but I can't tell you". Theres obviously a trick to killing AV, but you won't tell us that? How are we to know that this isn't the same situation? You keep us in the dark and just when we think we have it figured out you either patch something or ban us?? Yeah Maybe these characters belong to you, but don't forget who put years of effort and work into them. You missed an error in the coding, OK WE FORGIVE YOU MISATKES HAPPEN, BUT IT WAS OUR MISTAKE TO THINK THIS WAS PART OF SALVAGE AND NOT A GLITCH. My Friends group only ever did salvage, and had no intentions or ideas of it working for nyzul or SW.

Oh BTDubs SE, I got to tell you something important!
Seriously, no harsh words here this is friendly advice to help clean up the game, I think you should continue on your epic reign of terror and BAN every Samurai AND anyone whose ever assosciated with one for using Tachi: Koki for an unfair advantage of extra Treasure Hunger!
